Russ and his wife Sally, a retired HCS teacher, have lived in the Village for 41 years. Their two children, Jessica and Christopher, graduated from Hamilton Central School.

Holding advanced degrees in Geography, Russ was the Madison County Planning Director for 21 years and responsible for planning, economic and community development, and environmental affairs. He then served as Madison County’s first county administrator.  He was budget officer for two years and was responsible for putting together and administering a $110 million annual budget.  

Russ retired from the County administrative work in 2008 and was elected a Village of Hamilton Trustee in 2010. Currently he is liaison to the Fire Department and serves on the board of the Partnership for Community Development as the Village’s representative.  He is also the president of the Village’s Municipal Utilities Commission and serves on the board of the Hamilton Food Cupboard and the Madison County Industrial Development Agency.”
